Revit - Contextual Ribbon Fixes for 2012 & 2013

Those still using Autodesk^® Revit^® products from the 2012 and 2013 releases but who have installed a 2014 or later release product from Autodesk or have in some other way had .NET 4.5 installed on their computer will find that this creates issues with the contextual ribbons in Revit. Due to the recent overhaul of the Autodesk website and the introduction of the Autodesk Knowledge Network, old links to the required updates (2012 & 2013) and hotfix (2012 only) may no longer work. To save others from the effort to search for the reuqired files, here are the current URL's:

ACA 2013 Service Pack 2

Autodesk^® has released Service Pack 2 for AutoCAD^® Architecture 2013. As always, be certain to read the entire README before installing Service Pack 2. In the list below, "SP1" indicates an item fixed in Service Pack 1 (and included in Service Pack 2) and "SP2" indicates an item fixed in Service Pack 2.

The following ACA defects have been addressed:

AEC Dimensions

• SP1: Crash when saving a drawing originally in 2004 (or earlier) format, with AEC Dimensions on a locked layer. *
• SP1: Some AEC dimensions created before version 2007 do not display correctly in later versions.

Annotation Scaling

• SP1: Some tags are very small when added to drawings that use meters.

Autodesk 360

• SP1: Synchronizing tool palettes to Autodesk 360 is very slow. This capability has been disabled with this Service Pack.
• SP1: Online Render does not support AutoCAD Architecture objects.

Custom Blocks

• SP2: Some doors or windows with custom blocks do not display their frame values correctly.

Doors

• SP1: Some double door styles with custom profiles do not display correctly.

Drawing Compare

• SP2: Occasional crash related to drawing compare. *

Drawing Management

• SP1: Intermittent crash when creating a Construct in Project Navigator, or when opening AutoCAD Architecture with a certain project current. *

Elevation Labels

• SP1: When an external reference is bound into the drawing, its elevation labels will be reset to zero.
• SP2: Elevation labels defined in world UCS display zero after applying Service Pack 1.
• SP2: Elevation labels defined in world UCS display zero after applying Service Pack 1.

Export to AutoCAD

• SP2: If a drawing has an Xref Xclipped using the Invert Clip option, the opposite part is actually Xclipped after Export to AutoCAD.

Geometry Sharing

• SP2: Occasional crash related to geometry sharing. *
• SP2: Objects may not show correctly during 3D orbit.

Grips

• SP1: Occasional crash when editing grips for of structural members. *

IFC

• SP1: Several improvements have been made to meet the requirements of IFC coordination view 2.0 and GSA certification.

Layer Key

• SP1: Fatal error when layer key overrides from tool palettes and layer key overrides of current layer standard do not match. *

List Definition

• SP2: In certain cases, List Definitions cannot be modified.

Migration

• SP1: Content browser migration may fail when migrations are done multiple times.

Object Viewer

• SP2: Crash when saving an image in the object viewer while the steering wheel is enabled. *

Open

• SP1: Frequent crash when opening some drawings. *

Progressive update

• SP1: Characters in certain fonts do not display correctly when the AutoCAD system variable setEnableProgressiveUpdate is yes.

Project Navigator

• SP2: Occasional crash related to the Project Navigator. *
• SP2: Occasional crash when double-clicking drawing nodes in the Project Navigator. *
• SP2: Failure to create projects on WebDav servers.

Roombook

• SP1: In a Roombook schedule exported to Excel, the result is off by a factor of 1000 if the decimal symbol in Windows is set to comma.

Schedules

• SP1: Crash when exporting to Excel 2003 a Schedule table which includes a complex formula. *
• SP1: Schedules created by Roombook move slowly.
• SP1: The total sum values may be incorrect in schedule tables when grouping is first turned on.
• SP1: The width of the schedule frame may be incorrect when grouping several columns.
• SP2: Some schedule table lines fail to be turned off through display system.

Sections

• SP1: Occasional crash when modifying an object that is included in a section. *
• SP1: Crash while generating sections for big drawings or when using CreateHLR. *
• SP1: New or refreshed sections are not correct in AutoCAD Architecture 2013 as many lines are not hidden.

Slabs

• SP2: Occasional crash related to slab and roof slab. *

Spaces

• SP2: Area calculation may be incorrect for some irregular trapezoid spaces.

Sync

• SP1: Due to the large number of files in the Tool Palette, syncing AutoCAD Architecture settings to the cloud is very slow. Note: Once you apply Service Pack 1, you can no longer sync the AutoCAD Architecture Tool Palette to the cloud.

Walls

• SP1: Occasional crash related to certain wall cleanup conditions. *

Windows 8

• SP1: Frequent crash when closing AutoCAD Architecture. *
• SP2: Occasional crash when adding tags to objects. *
• SP2: Crash when modifying space geometry type. *
• SP2: Enhanced column grid labels cannot be modified under some circumstances.

The following AutoCAD defects have been addressed:

3D Navigation Tools

• SP1: Unexpected exit while panning. *
• SP1: Occasional crash related to navigating in 3D drawing. *
• SP1: The Keep Scene Upright option in the 3DConnexion Settings dialog box cannot not be changed.
• SP2: Occasional crash related to navigation tools. *
• SP2: Zoom speed varies with 3Dconnexion device in perspective view.

3D Modeling

• SP1: Occasional crash while selecting a face during a Presspull operation. *
• SP1: Crash when opening multiple 3D drawings containing a large number of 3D objects. *
• SP1: Issue with the centroid computation for 3D solids.
• SP2: Issue with the MASSPROP command with sliced 3D solids.

Action Recorder

• SP1: Action macros recorded in previous releases are not working correctly in AutoCAD 2013.

Autodesk 360

• SP1: Crash in Japanese AutoCAD when logging into Autodesk 360 from the Options dialog box. *
• SP1: Occasional crash when opening a drawing that contains xrefs, when logged in to Autodesk 360. *
• SP1: Pressing F1 does not display Help for the ONLINESYNCSETTINGS dialog box.
• SP1: Drawing files with names containing language-specific characters do not get saved to Autodesk 360.
• SP1: User is not automatically logged in when launching Autodesk 360 from the AutoCAD ribbon.
• SP1: Sometimes the Share Drawing dialog box opens behind the main application window.
• SP2: Crash with long file path in the Autodesk 360 folder. *

Block

• SP2: Occasional crash when clicking a block table grip with only one row of values available. *

Command Line

• SP2: Crash when switching Input Method Editor (IME) after canceling a command when DYNMODE is set to 0 and the command window is docked. *

CUI (Customize User Interface)

• SP1: Occasional crash while loading a custom CUI file. *
• SP1: Unhandled exception occurs while clicking the Customize button from Quick Properties palette on a computer running .NET 4.5. *
• SP2: Missing checkboxes in the Customize User Interface (CUI) dialog box when NET 4.5 is installed.

Customization Sync

• SP1: Customization Sync progress animation runs continuously.
• SP1: Customization Sync does not sync new custom commands in tool palettes.

DesignCenter

• SP1: Occasional crash while working with DesignCenter. *

DGN Support

• SP1: Fatal error when attaching or importing certain DGN files. *
• SP1: Export to DGN does not use the Global Origin specified in the seed file.
• SP1: The DGNIMPORTUNITCONVERSION system variable is missing in AutoCAD LT.
• SP2: Fatal error when scrolling the DGN linetype in the Properties Palette. *
• SP2: Issues with exporting files to DGN, even after exploding contents of file.

Dimensions

• SP1: Crash after undoing the creation of a non-associative continued or non-associative baseline dimension. *
• SP1: Existing drawings lose Qleader settings when edited in AutoCAD 2013.
• SP1: Dimensions created using the Perpendicular object snap will shift when the drawing geometry is moved, copied, or otherwise modified.
• SP2: Occasional crash when grip-editing annotative dimensions. *
• SP2: Radial dimensions for regions can become associated to wrong arc.
• SP2: Dimension text background fill cannot be reset in Properties.
• SP2: Jogged radial dimensions in paper space may reflect the wrong value of an extruded cylinder in model space.

Display Drivers

• SP1: Integrated chipsets are unable to return available video memory correctly.
• SP1: When using COPYCLIP and PASTECLIP on a 64-bit operating system, you might see the object color change from the original color.

Express Tools

• SP1: Occasional crash during a MOCORO (Move/Copy/Rotate) command. *

External Reference (XREF)

• SP1: External reference drawings (XREFs) show as unresolved in AutoCAD 2013.
• SP2: An OLE Object in an xref was not correctly set before the xref was detached. This crash issue has been resolved by opening the xref before erasing it. *

Field

• SP1: An object's angular property uses linear format instead of angular format in the Field dialog box.

Hatch

• SP1: Occasional crash while zooming during Hatchedit. *
• SP1: The Hatch Preview option is not available from the context menu when creating a hatch.

Image

• SP2: A MONOCHROME BITMAP attached in DWG file is not shown correctly.

InfoCenter

• SP1: Crash when clicking any option from the Stay Connected button in the title bar when no drawings are open. *

INQUIRY

• SP1: Crash while calculating area of a polyline that contains at least one segment that has been reduced to zero length. *
• SP2: MASSPROP reports an incorrect mass and centroid for a solid swept along a planar spline.

MLeader

• SP1: Multileaders incorrectly display a dot at the content block's insertion point.
• SP1: If the Extend Leaders to Text option is turned on, the text in multileaders moves if the drawing is opened or edited in AutoCAD 2013.
• SP2: Occasional crash when using MATCHPROP with multileaders. *
• SP2: Multileader scale is not always updated when multileader style is changed.

Model Documentation - Detail View

• SP2: Changing the Hatch property of a Detail view derived from a Section view sometimes causes AutoCAD to hang.

Modify

• SP1: The SCALE command gets cancelled while dragging when small scale factor is acquired with object snap turned on.
• SP2: Ellipse is sometimes distorted during stretching.

MTEXT

• SP2: The font doesn't match the setting in -STYLE command in Windows 8.

OLE

• SP2: Occasional crash when closing the application with a drawing that contains an OLE object. *

OPTIONS

• SP2: Occasional crash when changing or switching profiles in Options. *

PDF Export

• SP1: Plotting to a PDF file with a plot style causes wipeouts to appear black.

PDF Underlay

• SP2: Crash when specifying other PDF file from Saved Path field in External Reference palette. *

Performance

• SP1: Slow performance while running a large script.
• SP1: Slow performance while creating Layers quickly.

Plot

• SP1: Occasional crash while plotting to PDF. *
• SP1: Crash while plotting to a PDF file and the PDF driver is not present. *
• SP1: Using Plot Preview turns the Command window back on.
• SP2: Occasional crash when plotting with a wipeout in the drawing. *

Point Cloud

• SP1: Crash if the PCG file used to create a point cloud object does not exist. *

Properties Palette

• SP1: When an object is selected, the tooltip is missing in the Properties Palette for the following languages: Traditional Chinese, Czech, Russian, and Hungarian.

Ribbon

• SP1: The Visibility drop-down control on the Block Editor Ribbon is not working properly when property preview is enabled.

Selection

• SP1: Pressing Shift with a window selection fails to remove multiple Drawing Views from the selection set on a layout.
• SP2: Grips for attributes of blocks are not automatically made hot upon sub-selection.
• SP2: Selection preview is reset to off when IntelliMouse® zooming is ended.

Sheet Set Manager

• SP1: A high network utilization will result with the SMB V2 (Server Message Block) protocol while working with the Sheet Set Manager.

Startup

• SP1: Crash due to corrupt graphics cache files on startup. *
• SP1: Crash occurs while canceling a LISP routine that runs at program startup. *

Visual Lisp

• SP1: Menucmd does not display the drop-down menu when the Command window is docked.
• SP2: DCL files whose code page matches the system but not the product are not recognized and loaded properly.

General

• SP1: Crash on undo/redo after adding 256 or more objects to a group. *
• SP1: Crash on viewing thumbnail in AutoCAD 2012 when installed side-by-side with AutoCAD 2013. *
• SP1: Occasional crash when exploding splines created by third-party applications. *
• SP1: Crash when AutoCAD exits on computers running .NET 4.5. *
• SP1: Error on launching AutoCAD after the QuickCalc palette is anchored.
• SP1: INSBASE value is incorrect for a drawing created using -WBLOCK.
• SP2: Occasional crash when opening AutoCAD drawings in Windows 8. *
• SP2: Occasional crash due to using Intersection object snaps on lightweight polylines. *
• SP2: Some corrupt drawings crash when opened or saved and are not fixed automatically. *

In Service Pack 1, an ability to disable the autoloading of AutoLISP or VBA on startup and to disable AutoLISP entirely was added, to aid in dealing with malicious AutoLISP or VBA code. This remains in Service Pack 2. See the README for more details.

ACA 2012 Service Pack 1 Released

Apparently Autodesk has decided to go back to calling them Service Packs, rather than Updates. Service Pack 1 for AutoCAD Architecture 2012 is now available - download it from here.

Be certain to read the README for installation instructions. According to the README, Service Pack 1 restores the former ARRAY command functionality, in a new command called ARRAYCLASSIC. There is also a new System Variable, SNAPGRIDLEGACY: set this to 1 to have the cursor always snap to the grid (legacy snap behavior); set it to 0 to have it snap to the grid only when AutoCAD has prompted for point input.

The following ACA defects have been addressed:

Drawing Manager

• Selecting a sheet with a long name may cause unexpected behavior in AutoCAD Architecture.
• Opening a project with a large number of files in a 64-bit machine may cause AutoCAD Architecture to crash.

IFC

• Space containment does not work on a 64-bit operating system.

Multi-View Block

• Exporting multi-view blocks to AutoCAD may result in an incorrect size.

Profile

• Some AEC ARX files are loaded when running AutoCAD Architecture with an AutoCAD profile.

Renovation

• Renovation function fails when you add a door or window object during renovation mode.
• Sometimes the renovation toggle remains enabled even after exiting the renovation mode.

Section

• Building geometry may change after you activate and then disable the live section.
• Roof or roof cap solid hatch might be displayed in section incompletely.

Space/Zone

• Some merged space area are calculated incorrectly.
• When the unit area is inconsistent with its unit length, the calculated space area might be inaccurate.

Structural Member

• Adjusting column grid can cause beams to lose connection with the columns.

Tag

• Adding tags for doors on multiple reference copies may cause unexpected behavior in AutoCAD Architecture.

Wall

• REPOSITIONALONG command does not work for doors and windows.
• Running the JOIN command on two connected walls may cause unexpected behavior in AutoCAD Architecture.
• When you offset a wall using another wall with the same direction as the reference, the offset wall may be created in the opposite direction.
• The Below Cut Plan display component of doors or window may not display.

The following AutoCAD defects have been addressed:

3D Navigation Tools

• 3DConnexion settings are not being remembered after changes are made.
• 3Dconnexion device will not cancel the current command.

3D Surface Modeling

• With dynamic input off dragging the height handle of an extruded line will not always stretch by the value and direction of the drag.
• AutoCAD may become unstable when rebuilding a helix to a spline where the selection was not dropped.

Annotation Scaling

• AutoCAD may become unstable while attempting to load a DCL file with errors from a long file name.
• Tooltip does not appear when Additional tool tip string is set in “AcEdInputPointMonitor::monitorInput”.
• API fix: This fix will respect the custom color, line pattern and line weight when selecting the entities including external reference.

Autoloader

• Autoloader fails when SeriesMax parameter set to linked.
• Autoloader loads partial CUI but may not display it when the bundle is removed and reinstalled.
• When platform="AutoCAD*", bundles will be load on ACAD and Vertical.
• Using Autoloader to add custom CUI files that contain WPF Custom Controls will not work as it needs a registry entry.

Blocks

• AutoCAD may become unstable while snapping to blocks containing OLE objects.
• Editing attribute text in EATTEDIT dialog sometimes results in a fatal error.
• When a drawing is saved from within the Block Editor, the entire content of the drawing is sometimes lost and replaced with the content of the block being edited.
• Sometimes there is a delay while trying to modify blocks containing a Block Table Parameter.
• AutoCAD becomes unstable when entering the block editor, attempting to edit a dynamic block which has geometry on a locked layer.
• Sometimes the BEDIT toolbar does not get hidden after exiting block editor.

Digitizer

• You may receive an error at the command line after enabling a WinTab driver and the tablet will not function.

Display Drivers

• Integrated chipsets are unable to return available video memory correctly.

DWF

• Arcs and circles viewed on edge appear as a single line. This changes 2D DWF/DWFx drivers to plot them as a single line, rather than a polyline.

DWG

• AutoCAD may become unstable when using the "UNDO" command on drawings that are 2 gigabyte or larger.

Dimensions

• Ordinate dimensions in paper space are not correctly reflecting the distance from paper space UCS.

ETRANSMIT

• AutoCAD may become unstable while closing a drawing after etransmitting it using the COM API.

Exchange

• Autodesk Exchange may display a non-subscription link after updating to a subscription serial number.
• User login IDs that contained special characters like “@” could not log in to online services.

Express Tools

• AutoCAD may become unstable when using the NCOPY command.
• Overkill may delete polylines incorrectly when working with reversed polylines.
• Overkill may not work well when there is an arc segment in between 2 line segments.

Hatch

• AutoCAD may become unstable when using the “separate hatch” option.

Image

• Multi frame QuickBird Tiff image files may not display expected colors.
• When trying to insert an Adobe Photoshop PSD file it was not visible in the file filter list.
• AutoCAD may become unstable when inserting an AdobePhotoshop PSD file.

Layer

• Changing layer colors of layers beginning with non-alphanumeric characters may result in other layers changing colors.
• The layer state Ribbon control does not honor the apply properties viewport overrides.

MLeader

• AutoCAD may become unstable when drawings with multileaders are saved to older versions.

Modify

• AutoCAD may become unstable when editing polylines.
• NCOPY may fail to copy objects contained in blocks that were inserted into paper space.

Mtext

• Mtext Paragraph spacing value cannot be edited once a value is set.
• True Type (TTF) font text or mtext is blurry, bold, and distorted when the viewport is non-orthogonal because XY values are not exactly zero.

OLE (Object Linking & Embedding)

• AutoCAD may become unstable when copying from an Excel file back to AutoCAD.

Open/Save

• Cannot open drawing files from file Explorer if the drawing contains a "'%'" in the file name.

Other

• AutoCAD may stop responding when saving and or opening drawings with Symantec Norton 360 Version 5 installed on your system.
• You will be unable to open drawings created using a non-Autodesk product when using the Open() API.
• AutoCAD may become unstable when selecting the grid in some drawings.
• AutoCAD may become unstable after editing MTEXT in a viewport and when exiting the program.

Parametric Drawing

• Area is wrong when coincident constraints are applied to entities.

PDF Export

• AutoCAD may become unstable when using PDF Export on files that contain MS Mincho font.

PDF Underlay

• AutoCAD may become unstable when unloading a PDF underlay.
• AutoCAD may become unstable when an undefined PDF underlay is unloaded.
• AutoCAD may become unstable when plotting drawings that include “MS Mincho” to PDF.

Performance

• Drawings containing many layers may become slower with each pan and zoom operation when the ribbon is active. Performance improvement in 64bit COM APIs.

Plot

• You may experience data loss when sending multiple plots to Xerox printers.
• AutoCAD may become unstable when selecting plot preview.

Purge

• AutoCAD may become unstable when using the purge command.

Ribbon

• The linetype preview may be missing from the linetype dropdown in Ribbon Properties panel when opening drawings from the Application Menu.
• Ribbon Combo Box text eight may be empty when using "TEXTEDIT" on multiple dimensions.

Snaps

• With Snap enabled, the cursor does not move to snap intervals.
• Turning SNAPGRIDLEGACY ON will restore the old Snap behavior of the cursor when no command is active.
• Restores legacy SNAP behavior during certain LISP-based selection commands.

Sheet Set Manager

• Sheet List Table Context menu in Sheet Set Manager (SSM) is missing some menu items.

Tables

• Cell style is grayed out when picking inside any cell.
• The data link menu is grayed out after inserting a data link in a table.

UI Enhancements

• AutoCAD may become unstable attempting to edit a polyline vertices Pedit tangent.
• AutoCAD may become unstable in group selection where the group contains a box.
• When objects are on locked layers you are able to nudge them.
• AutoCAD may become unstable when interacting with the ViewCube while grip editing.
• When right click menus are disabled, selection or crossing right click actions are incorrect.

Visual Basic for Application

• AcFocusCtrl cannot be inserted in a VBA form.

Visual Lisp

• Attribute dialog will be displayed when inserting a block with attributes based on the setvar ATTDIA value.

Visual Styles

• AutoCAD may become unstable when using osnap in a 2d hide view.

External Reference

• AutoCAD may become unstable when interacting between the open dialog and the XREF manager.

Zoom/Pan

• AutoCAD may become unstable when zooming over the XY indicator in Layout.

Update 2 for ACA 2011 Now Available

You can download Update 2 for AutoCAD^® Architecture 2011 here.

According to the Readme, this Update is NOT cumulative; you will need to install Update 1 first, if you have not already done so. Be certain to read through the entire Readme before installing the update. According to the Readme, the following ACA items have been addressed in Update 2:

Annotation Scaling

• If two drawing units are different, the annotative blocks of the previous drawing version might be inserted with incorrect scale.

Detail Components

• Some detail components might not be added in the UK profile after installing Update 1.

Doors/Windows

• When you insert doors or windows evenly between the grid line or between walls, the elevation of the inserted doors or windows may result to a zero value.

Drawing Management

• Clearing the XML file in the current project may cause AutoCAD Architecture to crash.


• Renaming or renumbering the sheet in the Project Navigator may cause AutoCAD Architecture to crash.

General UI

• Accessing some tools from the Tool palettes may cause AutoCAD Architecture to crash.

Multi-View Blocks

• Exporting Multi-View Blocks to AutoCAD may result in incorrect sizes.


• In 3D shaded visual styles, a Multi-View Block created from circle with specified thickness might be drawn double.

OpenLight

• When the OpenLight plug-in is installed, the changes in the display configurations may not be maintained.

Structural Members

• When the start offset of a structural member is larger than its logical length, may cause AutoCAD Architecture to crash.

Walls

• Changing the view cube from parallel to perspective from the shortcut menu after selecting a wall may cause AutoCAD Architecture to crash.


• Clicking the Add Vertex button for some walls while editing in-place may cause AutoCAD Architecture to crash.


• Converting a 3D solid object created by extruding profile along a certain path to wall may cause irregular geometry.


• If the walls are with separate wall components which have bottom elevation offset, these walls may not display correctly in plan view.

ACA 2011 Update 1

Update 1 for AutoCAD^® Architecture 2011 is now available, here.

The Readme (be sure to read it, especially the parts on installation and backing up of your custom files) indicates that the following ACA issues have been resolved:

3D Modeling

• Components whose display has been turned off are shown on converting an AEC object to a 3D Solid.

Curtain Walls

• Custom model components in a curtain wall may display incorrect material assignments in different display configurations in 3D views.

Dimensions

• Associative dimensions may not update when walls are moved.

Drawing Management

• Redefining an existing model space view causes AutoCAD Architecture to crash.

General UI

• AutoCAD Architecture may crash on launching the Style Manager.

Help

• Third-party applications based on AutoCAD Architecture cannot access their Help files through the application.

IFC

• Some roofs may change position after executing the IFCEXPORT command.

Materials

• The MATERIALLIST command reports the volume of only the first object in a multiple selection.

Modify

• AutoCAD Architecture may crash while trimming entities.

Performance

• Sometimes memory usage increases when switching back and forth between the tabs of the Properties Palette.

Renovation

• A wall with display overrides displays incorrectly when modified in the renovation mode.

Sections

• Creating a horizontal section may cause AutoCAD Architecture to crash.

Slabs

• No style information is available in the Properties Palette for a slab created by applying the properties of the Slab tool to linework and walls.

Walls

• Trimming a wall may cause doors and windows in the wall to move or disappear.


• Walls that clean up correctly in a previous version may not clean up correctly in AutoCAD Architecture 2011.


• Wall cleanup EIP functions such as Merge, Subtract, Fillet, and Chamfer do not work in a custom UCS.

A number of AutoCAD fixes are also listed in the Readme.

ACA 2010 Update 2 Now Available

Update 2 for AutoCAD Architecture 2010 (yes, 2010, not 2011) is now available from the Autodesk website. Update 2 includes Update 1, so if you have not yet installed Update 1 (like me), you can just install Update 2.

According to the AutoCAD Architecture 2010 Update 2 Readme, the following defects have been fixed (list includes both Update 1 and Update 2):

AEC Dimensions
Update 1

• Multiple overlapping windows may lead to incorrect dimensions.

API
Update 1

• AutoCAD Architecture might crash when trying to define a Display Theme style using .NET API.

Doors/Windows/Openings
Update 2

• When a custom block is applied to a door, window, or door-window assembly, the block will be visible even if it is not within the cut plane range.
• Sometimes, you cannot insert an opening in a wall in a certain cleanup group.

Drawing Management
Update 2

• AutoCAD Architecture may crash when you repath certain projects with no drawings open.
• Renaming items in the Project Navigator, and repathing the project may cause AutoCAD Architecture to crash.

Export to AutoCAD
Update 2

• Export to Autocad sometimes causes AutoCAD Architecture to crash.

External References
Update 1

• Openings in external references with negative Z value are placed at an incorrect position.

Update 2

• When you execute UNDO command after binding an external reference, AutoCAD Architecture may become unresponsive.
• AutoCAD Architecture may crash if you unload an external reference, attach it again, and then execute an UNDO.

GBXML

• Duplicate openings are created in gbXML output when walls are slightly off from being perpendicular to each other.

• When you import an IFC file, containing a space that uses a negative value for extrusion, the extrusion is in the wrong direction.
• Importing an IFC file fails if it contains a 3D vector for True North direction.

Layers
Update 1

• The "New layer from Standard" button doesn't work in localized versions.
• Layer description fields are not automatically populated in all cases.

Update 2

• When the Layer Properties Manager is open, opening a drawing sometimes causes AutoCAD Architecture to crash.

Multiview Blocks
Update 2

• When AutoCAD Architecture and Civil 3D are installed side by side, AutoCAD Architecture crashes on executing MVBLOCKADD command.

Performance
Update 1

• Response is very slow when using Dynamic UCS and objects are Isolated.

Update 2

• Sometimes, it takes a long time to complete an UNDO after a COPY.

Property Palette
Update 1

• Changing an entry to one that is the first characters of the previous entry will not work in some fields.

Save
Update 2

• When you save a drawing to a previous version, sometimes, you are not warned about possible data loss.

Schedules
Update 1

• Schedules are not sorted as expected when values are a combination of numeric and alphabetic characters.

Update 2

• Sometimes, schedule table data is not rounded off as specificed in the property data format.

Sections
Update 1

• Some objects imported from Inventor display as points in 2D Sections.

Update 2

• When a window or door window assembly is sectioned, some linework may be missing in the section.

Structural Members
Update 1

• Custom block based on 3D Solids using Boolean operations are always placed at the start point.

Spaces
Update 2

• AutoCAD Architecture may crash when a spaced update is triggered for a large number of spaces within an external reference.

Wall Objects
Update 1

• AutoCAD Architecture might hang when opening certain drawings that contain modified Wall Endcaps.
• Window openings may not be created due to Wall Plan Modifiers.
• Using Refedit on a block containing Wall Object may cause a crash.

Update 2

• When working on a project located on a slow network, the wall and curtain wall tools are slow to respond.
• Some walls in an external reference display solution tips when the units of the host drawing are different from that of the external reference.
• AutoCAD Architecture will crash when you delete a component of a wall which is on a locked layer.

Update 1 for ACA 2010 Released

Update 1 for AutoCAD^® Architecture 2010 was released today. Get the proper version for your operating system type (32-bit or 64-bit). Be certain to read the "readme" before installation, where you will find installation instructions as well as a summary of the AEC and AutoCAD issues resolved.

Update 2 Available from Website for AutoCAD® Architecture 2009

Update 2 and the accompanying Readme can now be downloaded from the Autodesk website, in addition to being able to access it through the Communication Center, as previously noted.

Update 2 Available for AutoCAD® Architecture 2009

While links (for 32-bit and 64-bit versions) have not yet been posted here, if you check the Communication Center in ACD-A 2009, you should find Product Update 2 is now available. The Communication Center link will take you to a "live update" site. Be certain to read the README first, or a least the section on installation. No worries if you never installed Update 1, as Update 2 includes all of the Update 1 fixes as well, so you only need to install Update 2.

I got an error message at the end of the installation, claiming it was incomplete, but when I reopened 2009, it showed as Version 3, which is Update 2. An attempt to install the Update again failed, saying the product was up to date. The first fix noted in the README was the improper scaling of non-annotative Multi-View Blocks from user-created tool palette tools, an issue I first noticed in 2008, and which persisted in 2009. A quick test resulted in correct behavior, so I am assuming that the Update installed correctly for now. Three cheers to the ACD-A team for fixing one of my pet peeves with this Update.

Update 1 Available for AutoCAD® Architecture 2009

The first "update" (formerly known as "service pack") for AutoCAD^® Architecture 2009 was made available today. You can get it through "Live Update" in the Communications Center or by going to the appropriate page of the Autodesk Website. There are separate updates for the 32-bit and 64-bit variants.
